Ein Mutterherz
Voice of love and grief - Collegium Vocale 1704 & Collegium 1704The Prague vocal ensemble Collegium Vocale 1704 and the Barockorchester Collegium 1704 under the direction of Václav Luks are acclaimed for their joy in making music and loved for their brilliant sound. They spread enthusiasm far beyond the musical bridge they span between Prague and Dresden, and their concert calendar is correspondingly packed with engagements from London’s Wigmore Hall via Berlin’s Philharmonie to the Salzburg Festival – and now also Melk. For their Baroque Festival debut, the ensemble bring with them a procession piece by Jan Dismas Zelenka, the central composer of their repertoire. But there will also be masterpieces about the Passion of Christ from the Italian choral literature, which will unfold their unique musical architecture with expressive power, dramatic panache and lyrical grace in the Kolomanisaal.
