La Monica
The story of a nunEnsemble Vagando, S. Glanzer
>Madre, non mi far monaca< – the cry of a girl begging her mother not to send her to a convent can be seen as the central theme of this program. This melody encapsulates everything: longing, resistance, the anxious anticipation of a life that does not feel like one's own. The program of this night concert retraces a life story solely through instrumental music from the early Baroque period around 1600. It tells of personal desires, the future, actions, and their consequences. And who knows what might have become of the young nun...?
Whether early or high Baroque, Italian or English soundscapes – the young Ensemble Vagando, led by Sara Glanzer, is at home in all eras and styles of early music and now also demonstrates how comfortable it feels in contemporary music with the world premiere of Baran Beigi.
