Internationale Barocktage Stift Melk Abbey Melk, Kolomanisaal

Music from the baroque era, traditional sounds and original compositions, all flavoured with a quite unique and fascinating musical language – those are the defining features of Christina Pluhar and her Ensemble L’Arpeggiata. They combine elements of Early Music with components from other genres and epochs, thrillingly exploring the possibilities for dissolving boundaries on a musical level. In their new programme, compiled for the Baroque Festival, the common theme is nature and natural phenomena. The Baroque Festival sees itself as a hub for new inspirations and artistic impulses. Christina Pluhar has begun a collaboration with the mezzosoprano Malena Ernman that is exciting and promising for both: “For many years I’ve been a big fan of this wonderful singer and her vocal artistry, her expressive colourfulness, her musical versatility and her spirited stage presence, and for years I’ve wanted to be able to perform with her one day.”
