How do you imagine the most beautiful place on earth? Nature is sure to play at least a small role in it. Our longing for the idyll has stretched through the history of humanity since antiquity. Baroque gardens of paradise are just one example of this. In her evening concert, Maddalena del Gobbo looks at a yearning felt by French society: “The search for Arcadia describes the longing for a harmonic, nature-connected way of life that’s nonetheless full of poetry and art. One that seems somehow lost, but is still in our hearts. And the French loved exactly this aesthetic in music.” And who knows: perhaps the search ends here, in the middle of the Melk Stiftspark where sounds of devotion to nature blend with the surroundings. At least for one evening!
