Internationale Barocktage Stift Melk Abbey Melk, Gartenpavillon

Works by J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel and from the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book

Paul Guldaharpsichord

A must-hear: the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, one of the most important collections of the English harpsichord repertoire with works from the 16th and 17th centuries just has to feature in a concert devoted to the harpsichord!

The brilliant and versatile pianist Paul Gulda is known for his vivid and gripping interpretations; he always manages to conjure a special magic from his instrument. And so from the collection of just under 300 airs, toccatas, fantasias and many other pieces, he performs a small but perfectly formed selection for the Baroque Festival audience. The whole thing is crowned by probably the most famous adoptive Englishman of the baroque era, George Frideric Handel, and an English Suite by Johann Sebastian Bach.
