Johannes Prominczel


Johannes Prominczel is from Melk. He studied musicology in Vienna and Cremona and communication in Vienna (focus on journalism). In his diploma thesis he dealt with the Melker Benedictine Abbé Stadler, he wrote his dissertation of the church music of the Viennese court conductor Marc'Antonio Ziani (1652-1715). After graduation, he spent several years as an editor of the Austrian Music Journal. Since 2014, he has been dirsecting the music archive of Melk Abbey, since then he has also written program texts and lectures on introductions to the Baroque Days. In addition, since the beginning of the year 2018 he has been involved in a research project investigating the musical collecting activities of several Lower Austrian monasteries.
