Paul Gulda

Biography

Paul Gulda was born 1961 in Vienna to Friedrich Gulda, pianist and composer, and actress Paola Loew. He started an international career in 1982, appearing as a soloist and chamber musician and gained experiences in the fields of composition, improvisation and conducting. Paul Gulda works with actors and painters, jazz artists and folk musicians, and has appeared with the Vienna Philharmonic/Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur, Yehudi Menuhin and many others. His instrumental partners included M. Argerich, H. Schiff, R. Capuçon, the Hagen Quartet, Joe Zawinul, Makoto Ozone, Austrian actors  Michael Dang and Peter Matic, author Michael Köhlmeier. His deep fascination with J.S. Bach led him to play harpsichord, clavichord and organ. 30 CDs have been published. He teaches masterclasses in many countries and is social activist in various fields.
