Stefan Gottfried

Biography

Born in Vienna he studied cembalo, piano, composition and music education there and basso continuo and historical keyboard instruments at the Schola Cantoru Basiliensis. International concert commitments with ensembles and orchestras like Concentus Musicus, Bach Consort, Viennese Academy, Vienna anf Berlin Philharmonics und Zubin Metha, Daniel Harding und Georges Prêtre followed. Since 2000 he teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. From 2004 on he worked as cembalist and musical assistant with Nikolaus Harnoncourt at Theater an der Wien, at styriarte and the Salzburg Festival amongst others. 2015 marked his debut as a conductor for F.L. Gassmanns’ „Gli Uccellatori“. After Nikolaus Harnoncourts passing he, together with Erich Höbarth and Andrea Bischof, took over the direction of the ensemble and conducts the Concentus Musicus ever since.
